Nurseries are quickly becoming my favorite rooms to decorate. Even though you know how exhausted the parents are going to be while in them, they’re still sweet and cozy and will be the setting of some of the first and best memories.
My sister- and brother-in-law asked me to help put theirs together, and I couldn’t have been more excited. They told me they wanted an animal theme and natural wood incorporated throughout, but the rest was up to me.

In August my other sister-in-law and I hosted a virtual baby shower for Briana. After Briana had received a lot of baby gifts, the first thing I did was help her get organized. In the closet, Alex added some cube storage and in it we decided to store books, toys, and I also found those natural wood bins they could throw stuff in.
The Stuff box I found at TJMaxx and one #momhack I did when each of our kids were born was to get one of these boxes to throw stuff in that you don’t want to pitch, but don’t have a great place to store. For example, my kids have cards, baby hats, newspaper articles, and other miscellaneous items in theirs that someday I’ll go through (maybe not!) but it’s all kept in one place and is organized.
Another little trick I like to do is to keep a “too small” bin in the kids’ closets so that when I put something on them that doesn’t fit, it doesn’t get hung back up but is instead put in the bin. Then when the bin is full it all goes to a tub for storage.
In the changing table I put these bins in the two middle drawers to house onesies, pants, shorts, socks, hats, tights, etc. In the top drawers I stocked diapers, wipes, diaper pail refills, and a spot for other diapering needs. One of the two lower drawers will contain sleep sacks and pajamas, while the other side will hold shoes Brayby had already gotten inside the said set of bins that is sectioned off into little compartments.
After the organizing was done, I got to have a little fun and decided to surprise the soon-to-be-parents with leaf decals to create an accent wall. I decided on my measurements and then cut out a piece of cardboard to quickly mark my spots. I think it’s so cute with all those little animal faces next to them!
So far we’ve named the giraffe Simone and the sloth Gerald. The names Carl and Nathaniel have been thrown out there, too, but let me know if you have name suggestions! Ha!
The next little area of the room we focused on was the ladder shelf from Urban Outfitters. Briana already had the sign and some stuffed animals, so I added some pictures and greenery. Their dog, George, comes to our house a couple times a week to burn some energy, so one day him and I had a little photo sessions. He’s a really snoozy pup, so a sleeping George was a must in the nursery!
I blame my addiction to Ann Marie + Co. on Briana because she was the one who introduced me to them, and their Sweet Dreams sign was perfect for this nursery.
When you walk into the nursery I wanted to add some functionality, so I added a shelf with some hooks so they could easily grab a blanket or a little jacket while rushing out the door.
This little corner might be my favorite spot. It’s so cozy and will hopefully be a great spot for rocking, reading, and shushing back to sleep. And how can you not be in a happy mood looking at that sloth pillow?!
