In our family room you’ll find three large walls that required a lot of consideration when it came to decor. The wall behind our couch was long and narrow, so it required decor that would stretch out vertically rather than horizontally. I had seen a diy done by Chris Loves Julia that seemed inexpensive and (since I’m not a gal that does a lot of construction) fairly simple, I felt okay about asking a friend to create them for me. I sent him the link and measurements, and he had them done for me in no time! Thanks, Chase!
Here is a photo after we first got them hung:
There are a few things I’ve loved about these ledges:
One, they’re inexpensive to make.
Two, you can display a lot of art or photos without putting nails in your wall or measuring for hanging.
Three, if you are diy’ing them, you can customize the length you need for your particular wall.
Four, I love displaying family photos, and this allows me to do so easily.
When choosing photos for my ledges, I decided to make most the photos black and white. I also varied the sizes between 11×14, 8×10, 5×7, and 4×6.
Not a diy’er? Here’s a roundup of art ledges you could use:
I’d love to hear if you try this in your home— leave a comment or send me a photo if you do!
