An Adventurous Nursery for a Baby Boy

A few weeks ago I reached out to Kim Jensen when she mentioned on Instagram that she was moving some of her kids around in preparation for a new baby boy. Kim is a consultant for Stella + Dot and also runs House of Colour Ames. I had a style session with her last summer and had so much fun working with her, so I was so excited when she agreed to let me help!

We first began in her daughter’s room with a little Christmas surprise update. When that project was complete, Kim asked if I’d be interested in helping in the nursery as well. Yes, please! Nurseries might be my favorite. We began right away by deciding what her color scheme or theme in the nursery might be.

And, can you believe the color consultant didn’t want a neutral theme, but wanted color?! Shocking, I know! 😉

Here is the mood board I made for her. She found the Seek Adventure art at Target and that became the inspiration for the colors in the rest of the room.

Before

Here are some photos from before we began. The crib is from Eschelon from a few years ago and I couldn’t find it online, but here’s one that’s similar.

After

I first began by placing these wall decals on the crib wall. They are basically little wall stickers and are very easy to put on and remove!

Once the Seek Adventure art was up, we decided the print needed the mirrors next to it since the wall was so large. A quick run to Hobby Lobby fixed that!

Kim loves these Copper and Pearl bed sheets and the colors worked perfectly.

I loved how this rug tied in the black curtains and the dots from the wall decals. And these cotton ball string lights were a fun addition to this corner.

One item Kim knew she wanted right away was this cute bear head. He made me smile whenever I looked at him.

The adventure continued on this side of the room. This animal world map was such a great find because it had all of the colors in our room and was a large piece for this large wall!

Those little Nikes hanging were almost too much to handle 😉

I had so much fun working with Kim and her family. Ok, Baby Jensen, we’re ready for you!

twss,

Kelsey
