When our oldest two kids turned two, it was then when we moved them into a big bed from their crib. In June of 2021 we ordered Grace’s bedroom set, but with shipping delays it didn’t arrive to us until October. She was so excited to sleep in it, and it was funny to watch her sleep horizontally across her pillow since it was facing the opposite direction her crib had been in. This was definitely a bittersweet transition, since our rocking chair and crib that had been used for so many nights were now unnecessary.
Before

We began by painting her room Cloud White by Benjamin Moore. It’s a really pretty, creamy white that matched well with the carpet we were keeping and the color of the woodwork in her room. Grace’s bedroom is original to the home, and it’s interesting how large her room is when typical farmhouses built long ago had smaller rooms.
As far as her furniture, we ordered a set from Homemakers. We opted for a full bed, a trundle bed, a side table, and a dresser.
After

Once the furniture was in, the rest was just details! When we remodeled our bedroom and closet, we saved the doors and trim to be used in her room. The only downfall was her closet door wasn’t going to be replaced, so it was the only piece of woodwork that wouldn’t match in her room. I decided to try temporary wallpaper on it and had the colors matched to the artwork I had already bought for her room.

I wanted to create a little reading corner for her to enjoy, and she loves sitting under her canopy or in her rocking chair.

Hopefully she enjoys this room for a few years, probably until she’s a teenager and has far more opinions on things, ha!
