Summer 2024 Design Trends

Springtime always comes rushing at me with the urge to purge. I text two of my friends at 7am on a Monday morning asking if they wanted to join me in having a garage sale next month because I need stuff out of my house!

And while some of that drive comes from wanting to get rid of things I no longer use, another part of it is the excitement of refreshing our home after a long winter.

This got me thinking about design trends for summer that can also be carried into the rest of the year, and here are a few favorites.

Curves

My mind instantly went to furniture and all the beautiful curves and twists we’ve seen lately in contrast to straight lines and neutrals.

I can’t get over the curves of this arm chair from Target. So beautiful and moderately priced.

This round end table with a fluted finish from Walmart is stinkin’ cute.

I’m still adoring the curving lines of a scallop, including this one from Pottery Barn.

Earthy Tones and Browns

We’re still in our earthy tones era, but going a little bolder with darker shades and those pops of red you’ve been seeing.

Julia’s home is stunning, and it’s a whole earthy, moody vibe. She’s one of my favorite follows on Instagram.

Another favorite Instagram follow with all the earthy moodiness is Sean Anderson Design. The size of that mirror with the beautiful branches in front is *chef’s kiss.*

Brooke Morales Home does brown so well. Her photos and videos are always stunning.

Thrifted/Vintage/Sustainable

These three words are trending right now, and if you know the thrill of the hunt, you understand why.

Shannon Santiago Home went viral after sharing this antique hutch she found, and rightfully so. Her beautiful photos capture great new and thrifted decor, leaning in on the 90s home she’s working to make more her style.
