Central Park Dentistry Decor

A few months ago, my sister-in-law, Briana, called me up to ask me a question I definitely was not expecting. She’s a dentist and her office had recently done some renovations to one of their locations. They were up and running, but she wondered if I’d be interested in decorating their office for them.

Two thoughts immediately ran through my head:

  1. I am not qualified in any way to decorate for you, don’t you want to hire an actual professional?!
  2. Yes, can I start right now?

I met with Drs. Brayton, Lala, Hansen, and Thackery of Central Park Dentistry to discuss our ideas and what goals they had for the office. A few items had already been purchased that were more rustic, so we decided to keep the rustic theme.

These are photos from the lobby. There were two main priorities in the lobby. The first was getting blinds to cover the block windows. They were painted various colors and were not very pleasing to the eye, but the office wasn’t ready to completely take them out yet. The second goal was to create a coffee nook for staff and patients.

When I first began thinking about this room, a thought ran through my mind: What’s more rustic than a shiplap wall? So, I asked Dr. Brayton if she’d bring it up to the rest of the group, and they went for it! I was worried this might scare them off and I’d be fired, but I’m so happy they were open to the idea because I think it really makes a statement.

Next, I thought CPD’s logo needed to be a focal point. My cousin, Alyssa, and her parents have a company called Keehn Kreations that offers woodworking, crafts, and more, so I asked if she thought they’d be able to help. Right away she said they’d love to, so I sent her CPD’s logo and they created this sign for us. It turned out beautifully, and I thank them so much for bringing this sign to life!

Also, how neat are these chairs? Dr. Lala had them restored. They were originally in the Buffalo Center courthouse in the 1920s!

Dr. Lala suggested using Smith and Noble blinds since he had had success with them previously, so we chose a style and color to cover up the eye sore block windows. They look really great and cover what we wanted, and when opened they let in a lot of sunlight during business hours.

Here is the coffee nook used by staff and patients. The tooth succulent holder is hilarious, no?

One of my favorite parts of the lobby are these old pictures Dr. Lala gave me to use. They are photos of downtown Sheffield and the Brick and Tile building. Soon after they were hung, a patient wrote on Facebook about how she recognized someone in the picture as one of her family members and loved seeing the photos on the wall. This is exactly what we were hoping for.

These tags from Etsy are one of my favorite finds.

While the lobby was the main priority in adding some decor, some of the patient rooms and staff bathroom got a little lift, too.

I love this sign for a dental office.

Finally, I met with CPD Sheffield’s office assistant, Amy, to give me an idea of what she was looking for in her office and the patient planning room. The main item she wanted was a coat rack, otherwise she was very open to any ideas.

Until My Next Check-up…

I can’t thank CPD enough for letting me help them liven up their office. I truly enjoyed getting to know all the staff in Sheffield, and it’s apparent why their patients keep coming back to CPD. I know I’m a little biased, but the people at CPD really are great and I’ll miss seeing them so often! Thank you to Drs. Lala, Hansen, Thackery, and Brayton for welcoming me into your office and trusting me with my ideas. See you soon, hopefully with no cavities.
