Revealing our Updated Main Bathroom

This was the first major renovation my husband and I had ever done, and boy did we learn a lot. From small decisions that could be easily fixed to large decisions that were more permanent, it was really neat watching this bathroom transform.

Before

Before our renovation, this bathroom hadn’t been updated since the 80s. Knowing they may move in the near future, my in-laws decided not to renovate so we could update it how we’d want. We were excited to start!

The layout of the bathroom was essentially staying the same. We decided to wall off the door that was currently going into our bedroom because that door would soon lead to our updated main closet. We also decided to take out the bathtub in here and only have a shower, which meant we could bring the shower out as far as that existing wall came already. The thing I was most excited about? Getting rid of the carpet! Carpet in a bathroom + long hair is not a good mix.

Here is the initial design board I created when planning for this remodel:

I knew right away I wanted three things in this bathroom: the marble tile look, gold fixtures, and the vanity to be Soot by Benjamin Moore. I loooove that navy/black color!

Bathroom Remodel: After

We are so happy with how it turned out. The tile is beautiful and makes this bathroom with no windows nice and bright. The vanity paint color adds just enough drama and makes me happy every time I go in there. We also love the Delta Fauxet fixtures! The wall mount faucet has been great and I love not having to clean around it as much as if it were at the base of the sink. And as for the shower? I love how I can customize the water temperature and fixture for every shower. Not washing my hair today? Just use the body sprays. Need some clean hair? Overhead spray, please. Need to clean the shower? Using the handheld. Need two or all three? Ok, sure can. I love it.

Those almost black hexagon tiles are such a great accent in the shower and really pull the dark parts of the marble out. I also decided to build the shower niche all the way across the wall. This has been great so that our bottles don’t need to be set on the floor or bench and nothing feels overcrowded.

And one of our favorite parts of the bathroom: the under cabinet indirect lighting. The perfect nightlight.
