Farmhouse Glam: Adding Decor to a Remodeled Living Room, Kitchen, and Dining Room

When my friend, Karla, asked me to help decorate her recently remodeled home, I was so excited to see what they had done. I’d been in her home plenty of times, usually with her daughter who’s been my friend since high school, so I was eager to see the changes they’d made. The moment I stepped into their project, you could see how everything had been opened up and extended. No more closed-off kitchen, and the living room, dining room, and sun room all became one big open area letting in so much natural light. It was beautiful!

Before

After the construction dust had settled, Karla was just looking for a few ideas for what to do with the space. She already had a few items she knew she wanted to include, so we did some brainstorming on how we could meld the two together. Here are a few ‘before’ photos I snapped:

The Plan

Here is the mood board I created for the large buffet table next to the dining room and for the corner of the dining room. I’ll link all sources at the end of the post!

Karla found a really pretty metallic leaves wall art set from Target and we decided a photo gallery wall would look awesome in her kitchen. We were also able to create a fun little wine station using a wine rack she already owned.

After

I need you to know a story before you look at the afters so you can really appreciate the curtain situation here. Karla had found these curtains at… wait for it… Dollar General (!) but they were too short for where the curtains needed to be hung. (Read: I heavily suggested aka basically forced her to hang their curtain rod as high and far out from the windows as they could, giving them maximum amount of light to enter and not block the windows.) Here’s what I mean:

Anyway, Karla used her resources and had a lady extend these curtains for her using other fabric! You truly wouldn’t even know looking at them. Such craftiness. Ok, here are some ‘after’ photos.
