Spice Up Your Life

This is a quick organizational project I did that I thank myself for every time I go to use my spices. I’ve rounded up the jars I used, plus some other options for the type of space you have in your own home! You can find those sources at the bottom of this post.

I love the spice drawer in our kitchen. It’s in a really convenient location and can house more spices than I know what to do with.

The only issue I was having was searching for the spice I needed every time I cooked. Since this drawer pulls out of our bottom kitchen cabinets, you look down to search for the spices.

You can probably see where I’m going with this. When I needed a spice, I was having to squat down and look through the side of the drawer to find the spice I needed, often pulling out four or five before finding the correct one.

It finally drove me crazy enough to do something about it!

Getting Organized

I first cleaned out the entire drawer and made notes of any restocking I needed to do.

After doing a quick search on Amazon, I found some glass spice jars that came with labels you could stick to the lid. I also got a set of smaller jars with side labels since my second row was a smaller shelf that couldn’t be seen from above.

As you can see in the photo, if any spices didn’t fit in the jar, I kept the leftover and stored it on the overflow shelf at the bottom of the drawer.

That quick project has been easy to maintain. I also love that I can now alphabetize the jars, making the search even faster. I also have more room for more spices, as you can see in the first photo of this post!
