When I first asked Adeline what she wanted for her eighth birthday, her response was an underwater themed bedroom. My first thought was, “Where the heck did you come up with underwater theme?” But my next thought was that I loved this idea because it meant less toys to clutter up my home.
Her bedroom was last decorated when she was around three years old, so I was excited to give her some decor that was more age-appropriate.
Here are photos of her room before it was redecorated.

This nook was my main priority. As she gets older, I’d love to see her use this space to read, write, etc. It was previously bare or used as storage when it was time to vacuum.

Is it June and her Christmas tree is still in her room? Yes. Sigh.
The Idea
Here is the mood board for what I wanted in her room. I started with the temporary wallpaper and went from there. I decided not to get too particular about the blues all matching because, after all, water takes on many forms of blue.

And here’s how the room turned out! She tells me she loves it. I believe her because she’s been making her bed every morning and keeps the neon light on whenever she’s in there.

The temporary wallpaper and neon sign are my favorite. What’s yours?
