Living Room in a Barn? See Our Full Furniture Reveal!

The barn living room seeks to serve multiple purposes. While the obvious living room function is meant to give us a cozy space to watch a movie by a warm fire, it will also be used to conduct meetings, as well as host holiday gatherings.

When initially designing the space, I wanted a timeless, rustic feel as an ode to the nearly 100-year-old barn that sat in this same place before being destroyed by an unusual winter tornado.

This post is sponsored by Redekers Furniture. The reviews are my personal opinions.

My in-laws have been shopping at Redekers Furniture in Boone, IA for many years, and have always been complimentary on the quality of furniture they’ve purchased. With such a strong recommendation in mind, we decided to make this our first stop in furnishing the living room, but we didn’t expect to find so many pieces we loved in one place!

Our goals for the day were two leather couches to be used by the golf simulator, an upholstered sofa for the living room, one or two chairs for the living room, and possibly some bar stools.

I knew I wanted dark leather sofas near the golf simulator for a cigar lounge vibe, and something cozy for the living room area. And most importantly?

The seats cannot be too deep. We need to be able to get in and out of them easily!

Rustic Living Meets Modern Design

After a quick look around the very large showroom where options for our desires were pointed out by helpful employees, we knew pretty quickly we wanted to purchase the Violino Leather Sofa for the simulator area. I loved the deep brown color and thought it would look really beautiful next to the green turf. While it’s slightly deeper, it still passed the Sit Test!

We then found a traditional upholstered sofa that I ordered in a performance ivory fabric since I expect a lot of traffic on this furniture. It passes the Sit Test, and I love its classic look. And that performance fabric was put to the test rather quickly when one of our children had mud on their shoes. With a few sprays of upholstery cleaner, the dirt came right out!

As we were beginning to wrap up our visit, I knew I wanted one, maybe two chairs for the living area as well, and I thought a dark leather would pull together the leather couches from across the room. Enter the Violino Sling Chair! It’s incredibly comfortable, has a wide base for all sizes, and I’m obsessed with the leather straps on the back next to the black iron. And as I’m writing this post, it’s nearly $400 off!

We really enjoyed our shopping experience at Redekers, and their customer service was great! The pieces we purchased were high quality with fair pricing, and I appreciated the home delivery service. After our shopping experience it’s easy to see why they’ve been in business for 95 years!

Have you shopped at Redekers? Which piece we bought is your favorite?
